Today's Exercise
Writing submissions is part and parcel of Public Service work. Instead of starting from scratch, a ChatGPT skill can generate a first draft using past submissions and your key points, helping you work faster and maintain consistency.
Let's draft a submission with ChatGPT in 3 simple steps
Choose a past submission for your template
Generate your submission
Create a reusable skill
Here’s what you need for this exercise:
Tools and inputs required
🛠️ Tool | ChatGPT Enterprise (WOG) |
🔗 Feature | File Upload |
📂 Your input | Past example of a submission |
Step 1: Choose a past submission as your template

☑️ Choose a past, approved submission that represents the structure and writing style you want ChatGPT to follow. Save it as a Word document.
Step 2: Generate your submission

☑️ Login to ChatGPT Enterprise (opens in new tab), upload the past submission in a new chat

☑️ List your key points and ask ChatGPT to draft a submission with your template. You can use the prompt below as a starting point

Proposal / Assessment: [ ]
Recommendation: [ ]
Expand the points into a clear, well-structured submission and maintain a professional Public Service writing style.

☑️ Review and refine the draft through further prompts or manual edits. Once satisfied, copy it into Outlook for sending.
Step 3: Create a reusable skill

☑️ Ask ChatGPT to save what you just did as a reusable skill.

☑️ Once the skill is packaged, click 'Install'.

☑️ Click 'try in chat' to test out your skill.

☑️ You can find your installed skills under 'Plugins' in the future.
Now it's your turn to try!
Pick a real submission you need to draft, upload a suitable past example, and give ChatGPT your key points to create a first draft.
Once you are happy with the workflow, save it as a reusable skill so you can use the same approach for future submissions.
Remember to review the draft carefully and check that all facts, recommendations and approval points are accurate before using it.
